Emotional Wellbeing of the Creative Soul: Graduate Fashion Week 2016

In a series of blog posts written ‘exclusively’ for Graduate Fashion Week. Author and fashion entrepreneur Samata shares with us some of her own tips and advice for emerging designers starting out in the fashion industry, as well as her own personal memories authoring her first book.

Fashion Designer’s Resource Book

It’s been over five years since I started writing The Fashion Designer’s Resource Book and over three years since I received my first copy from publishing house Bloomsbury in February 2013, but I still feel awed to hear from retailers that it is selling well, from fashion colleges that the library copies are always booked out and from readers keen to let me know how the book has helped shape their direction.

That’s the funny thing about fashion, whilst trends dictate change almost from one month to the next, the fundamentals always stay the same, and the  basics are the basis of everything.

When Bloomsbury asked me to share some tips and advice for emerging designers starting out in the fashion industry, I was happy to oblige…but I wanted to tackle a side of the conversation I think is super important, the emotional well-being of a creative designer. I hope this series of blog posts prove useful to you.
