We have just completed the final checks on one of our forthcoming titles – and the first in a new series – The Fundamentals of Fashion Management (publishing October 2011) and we are so excited about this book, we thought we’d share a little preview of some of the content!
This book will give readers a behind-the-scenes insight into the roles and processes of the fashion industry, through clearly organized chapters exploring aspects such as: trend prediction and the fashion forecasting process; buying and merchandising; branding and fashion promotion; fashion editorial and press; and creative business planning and fashion entrepreneurship.
The book is packed with inspiring imagery and case studies, featuring examples of work from fashion brands such as Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Vivienne Westwood, Chloé and Selfridges. At the end of each chapter, we have also included an interview with a professional working in a particular area of the fashion industry, giving the reader a real-world example of a fashion industry career.
One of our favourite features is an exercise on how and what to prepare for a fashion press kit. This exercise takes the reader through six clear and concise steps, each one identifying a key element to include in the kit, in order to catch the attention of fashion reporters and buyers!

Here are some featured spreads from The Fundamentals of Fashion Management. If you like what you see here, be sure to check out our website in October 2011 for the real thing!
